Il San Pietro is the coast's grand cliff hotel: terraces stacked into the rock just outside Positano, an elevator cut through the cliff to a private beach, a Michelin table above the water, and the same family running all of it since it opened.
Monastero Santa Rosa is the quieter reading of the same cliff: twenty rooms in a former monastery instead of a resort, Conca dei Marini below instead of Positano. The drama is identical; the volume is turned down.
