About Lento

A small guide on purpose.

Lento is kept by one independent editor for travelers who would rather trust a short, opinionated list than search another endless directory.

Editorial method

Nothing enters from a press release.

A hotel joins only after someone writing for Lento has slept there and can vouch for the experience. We look for character, restraint, a strong relationship to place, and a pace that makes it possible to pay attention.

Every field note is meant to include the reason to go and the reason not to. Visit provenance and verification details appear on the stay page whenever they are available. A hotel cannot buy a listing or improve its position.

How money works

Free to read. Independent by design.

Some outbound booking links may earn Lento a commission from the hotel or booking partner. You pay no fee to Lento. The availability or size of a commission never decides which hotels appear.

If a visit was hosted or discounted, that relationship should be disclosed on the field note. Missing provenance is treated as a detail to verify, not permission to imply one.

Photography

Real places, credited honestly.

The Palazzo Daniele photograph is courtesy of Design Hotels and was made by Cosmo Laera. It is the only lead image in the current collection presented as a photograph of the property itself.

The lead images for Monastero Santa Rosa, Masseria Moroseta, Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita, Hotel San Cristóbal, and Nômade Temple Tulum are destination views, not photographs of those hotels. Their per-file source URLs, creators, and exact license versions are not yet documented in this repository, so they are working placeholders rather than launch-ready assets.

Before public launch, every placeholder must either be replaced with cleared property photography or gain a complete asset-level credit and license record. Corrections and cleared replacements are welcome at hello@thelento.com.
