Casa Malca is Tulum's art-world trophy: a beachfront mansion once owned by Pablo Escobar, rebuilt by a collector and hung with his own contemporary art. People come for the story and the pictures it produces.
Nômade is down the same beach with none of the spectacle: rooms open to the jungle, days run on ritual rather than photographs. And if it is the barefoot pace you want rather than Tulum itself, San Cristóbal does it on the Pacific.
We have not slept at Casa Malca, so it is not in the collection. Nothing joins without a stay we can vouch for, and hotels cannot pay to be listed.
